Day 14: A half day of voting, and then a break for the rest of the afternoon, 14 August 2003

UN flags in the wind

Today the Sub-Commission finished its voting on all resolutions and decisions. Tomorrow there will be a few traditional last day votes on the final reports, committees for next year, etc. But for all practical purposes the voting is now complete. We've updated the voting summaries on the voting page of this website, so you can get a brief synopsis of the decisions made. Probably the most unique aspect of this year's votes are that all are adopted by consensus or by unanimous sponsorship. There were no divided votes this year, which may be a first for the Sub-Commission.

The Geneva weather is also starting to cool down a little bit (high today in the mid-20's Celsius, mid-90's Fahrenheit). The wind finally let the UN flags flutter a bit, as you can see from the photo above.

A photo from the day

The Sub-Commission posed for a group photo with a professional photographer after the voting was complete, so we took a few snaps too. That's David Weissbrodt on the right.
